沈万慈教授是湖北荆州人,生于1940年,1957-1963年就读于清华大学金属材料专业,毕业后留校任教,现为清华大学材料科学与工程系退休教授。沈万慈教授长期从事炭-石墨材料的教学及研究工作,研究方向为天然石墨的深加工技术、石墨层间化合物材料、电池石墨材料、各向同性石墨材料。沈万慈教授曾负责及参加国家八五、九五、十五、十一五科技攻关、

Professor Wanci Shen was born in 1940 in Hubei Province.He studied metallic materials in Tsinghua University from 1957 to 1963.After that,he became a faculty member in Tsinghua University. He was one of the earliest Chinese scientists to investigate natural graphite and its processing,graphite intercalation compounds,flexible graphite,isotropic graphite and graphite materials as electrodes for batteries.He was awarded the National Invention Award in 1993 and the China Building Materials Award in 2006.He has published more than 100 academic papers.Prof.Shen was awarded the Carbon Outstanding Achievement award of China in 2011 by the Selection Committee for the Carbon Outstanding Achievement award.
