摘要
玛利不断收到社会保障部门已经死亡的史密斯先生签名的来信,约定会面,可约会总被不断延迟。本文从拉康理论角度对琼斯的短篇故事进行了阐释。玛利开始处在镜像阶段,“这种主体结构性的摇摆不定”使她具有攻击侵略性;和大学生谈话时,她开始认识到“父亲话语”;亲身经历朋友死亡后,她看清了母亲的想象世界。最后玛利进入了象征界,理解了能指符号的实质:所指的不断延迟。文章认为主体只有承认缺失,才能认清自我想象,接受现实。
This paper provides a Lacanian reading of "Marie". The titular heroine is entangled in the Mirror Stage, and her frustrated sense of self leads to her paranoiac aggression. With the assistance of a university student (also a Lacanian analyst) who renders her discourse into tapes and "punctuates" her free flow of words, Marie comes to understand "the Discourse of the Father", and sees through the Imaginary of her mother and finally, after the acknowledgement of her own lack intensified in the experience of another's death and her own missing of luggage, she becomes a subject in the Symbolic, "a signifier representing the subject for another signifier".
