Wordsworth's poem "A Slumber Did My Spirit Seal", owing to its seemingly plain but masterfully elaborated language and profound meaning, has been commented by both scholars and critics. Adopting the poststructuralist stance, i.e. a text may have many interpretations and reading is misreading, this essay displays different interpretations and demonstrates how these differences affect translational decisions to be made. The so-called formalistic translation demands TLT keep as close as possible to the original form in the hope of retaining in the TLT a similar potential that may allow as many possible interpretations as the SLT may do. The writer of this essay made his efforts in the application of such principles in his translations included in this essay. The essay also includes a formalistic analysis of phonemic and rhythmic aspect of the poem to evidence what may get lost in the Chinese version of the poem.
