《心是孤独的猎手》是美国作家卡森.麦卡勒斯的代表作。作家借用了赋格曲的音乐形式来安排小说结构。小说的三个章节就如同赋格曲的呈示部、中间部和再现部。在每一章中,众多各不相同的人物就像不同的声部,他们先后出现,诉说着同一个主题:孤独。这种新颖的叙述手法不仅可以使庞杂的人物关系变得井然有序,也将无声的主题同有声的音乐联系在一起,赋予小说一种音乐之美。

The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter is a masterpiece of Southern American writer Carson McCullers.She arranges the structure of this novel in the style of a musical fugue.The three chapters of the novel are like the exposition,second exposition and the restatement of exposition of a fugue.In every chapter,numerous characters appear like different voices,telling the same topic： loneliness.This kind of fresh narrative skill can not only make the complicated relationships of characters in perfect order,but link the silent theme with vocalized music,giving the novel the beauty of music.
