李希凡新时期的《红楼梦》研究,不仅体现在他对20世纪50年代提出的那些基本观点的进一步阐发,更体现在他对《红楼梦》艺术世界和人物形象等方面的较为深入而系统的评论,其代表性著作主要有《红楼梦艺术论》与《传神文笔足千秋.红楼梦人物论》。李希凡力图于坚守以往成说的基础上有新的拓展,并在艺境探微和人物论方面取得新的创获。

The studies of A Dream of Red Mansions by LI Xifan in the new period not only reflected in his explication of viewpoint put forward in 1950s, but also the profound and systematic comment on the aesthetic world and characters of A Dream of Red Mansions.. His representative works include Theory of Aesthetic of A Dream of Red Mansions and Vivid Style of Writing Lasts Forever： Theory of Characters of A Dream of Red Mansions. LI Xifan tried to expand into a new territory based on the accepted theory, at the same time his creation and achievement resulted the study of artistic conception and theory of characters.
