Present condition of geological research in Shandong Province has been briefly introduced, purpose and necessity of making new map of Minerals in Shandong Province with the scale of 1 ： 500000 have been described, the content and preparation for making this map have been introduced, and the characteristics of the new mineral map has been analyzed. It is pointed out that this result can be used as important geological information basis for mineral exploration, development, planning, management and provide information basis for making decisions by government.
