在道经中,"寒池"、"寒庭"都有地狱刑罚之池、人身命门、月中广寒之池、北极元福弃贤世界郁单之国的神池等意思;"寒夜"则有地狱的意思,此外,该词还可作地狱曹府之名。

In Taoist scripture, ＂han chi＂ and ＂han ting＂ take the meanings like a pool with hell, penalty, fate, cold-evil, etc. Except the meaning of hell, ＂han ye＂ is the synonym of hell.
