On the Popularity of Marxism during the May Fourth Movement

五四运动时期马克思主义的广泛传播为中国共产党的成立奠定了坚实的思想和理论基础,为新民主主义革命指明了发展方向。研究五四运动时期马克思主义的传播对于准确认识、把握马克思主义,推动当代马克思主义中国化、大众化、时代化具有重要的意义。从马克思主义大众化的历史源起、历史进程、历史规律的角度来进行研究,是一个不可或缺的视角。以马克思主义大众化的历史源起问题为研究起点,整体审视五四运动时期马克思主义大众化的相关问题,以期对新民主主义革命时期乃至社会主义革命与建设时期、改革开放以来新时期的马克思主义中国化、大众化、时代化有更深刻的理解。

The wide spread of Marxism during the May Four Movement laid a solid ideological and theoretical foundation for the founding of the Chinese Communist Party and pointed out the direction for the development of new democratic revolution. To study the spread of Marxism during the May Fourth Movement has a great significance for the accurate understanding and grasping of Marx- ism and for the promoting of the localization, popularity and modernization of Marxism in China. It is indispensible to study Marxism from the perspective of the historical origins, historical process and historical law. To take the historical origins of the spread of Marxism as the starting point, this paper examines the relative problems concerning the popularity of Marxism during the May Fourth Movement, hoping to have a better understanding of the localization, popularity and modernization of Marxism in China during the period of new democratic revolution, the socialist revolution and construction, as well as the new era of reform and opening up.
