Close but Different:On the Relationship between Pragmatics and Rhetoric

语用学和修辞学是两门交叉渗透而又独立的学科,它们试图通过各自的学科体系来揭示言语运用或言语交际的内在规律。两门学科之间的关系,常被界定为"或隶属、或同一、或独立、或同异"等,甚至有学者认为"语用修辞学"或"修辞语用学"已经成为独立学科,大有取代两门学科之势。我们认为将两门学科的关系界定为"亲密有间",或许更为中肯。

Pragmatics and Rhetoric are two inter- infiltration but independent academic subjects, revealing the inherent law of language use or verbal communication through their discipline systems. The relationship between the two disciplines is often defined as dependence, the same, independence or difference, and even some scholars believe Pragmatic Rhetoric or Rhetoric Pragmatics has become an independent discipline and possibly tends to replace the two subjects. This paper analyzes the close but different relationship between them.
