Space Shift in Fiction Narration: On Flexibility and Wisdom of Space and Time Narration in Doris Lessing's Fiction

20世纪末西方社会思想、文化的"空间转向"影响到了文学和艺术作品的叙事传统。空间元素具有的结构改变了历史性线状叙事的单一格局,开创了共时性立体叙事的新方法。小说是时间艺术,同时又是空间艺术。多丽丝.莱辛小说中的空间叙事是一种完全自觉的艺术形式,她将空间艺术融入线性叙述文字中,开拓了小说叙事中的空间形式。结合时间因素和空间维度来观察莱辛,能更全面、辩证地理解她的作品。

At the end of the 20th century, the increased attention to the issue of space and spatiality has entered into literary studies from a number of different directions. The spatial shift concept has posed a formidable challenge to the conventional narrative discourse, and thus fiction should be regarded as temporal art and spatial art. Lessing, dissatisfied with the tradition- al concerns of realist fiction and reacting against the linear narrative, has profound awareness of a new system of time and space. In order to show the comprehensive space view of spatial writing and offer a kind of new understanding of her fiction, this article aims to identify and evaluate spatial narrative in Lessing＇ s fiction and illustrates the productive interaction between the flexibility of Lessing＇ s narrative and her moral and thematic ideology.
