InMother Night, Kurt Vonnegut employs paranoia as its thematic concern through which ne successluuy depicts me chaotic spiritual world of the people who are victimized by the aftermath of the governmental conspiracy and grotesque history. This paper, starting from the close reading of the paranoia and the study of the historical background, explores in detail the paranoia theme in relation to the postmodern condition, its root of occurrence, its meaning and the significance of the paranoid reading as well. The study of the paranoia theme is in itself of paramount significance in the comprehension of the postmodern writing as a whole.
