From Sanctity to Secularity: The Change of Western Culture in Costume

西方文化中人类的着装行为的发展经历了宗教服装、政治服装、时装和作为消费品的服装这四个阶段。这几个阶段表现了最初作为神圣性表达的服装如何一步步世俗化为作为纯粹物欲的满足的服装,它也非常形象地展现了西方文化从神圣到世俗逐渐演变的过程。

The process of the change of clothing behavior in Western culture can be divided into four stages as religious dress, political dress, fashion and dress as commodity. It was a reflection of sanctity at the beginning of Western culture and became increasingly secularized with the development of culture. It provides us a good example of the change of Western culture which has transformed from sanctity to secularity.
