水体的基本内涵与主要功能为水城的形成和发展奠定了一定的基础。水体的水资源功能、交通运输功能、生态环境功能及旅游美学功能与城市形成发展类型的关系甚为密切。将水城分为沿江城市、运河城市、湖滨城市、沿海城市及综合型河口城市,通过研究不同的水体对城市发展影响的动力机制,初步探究水环境对城市形成与发展的区位选址、职能结构、格局演变、空间形态、经济发展等方面的影响,指出城市的发展与该地区水环境的演变有着至关重要的联系。

Dividing the main function of water into water resources, transportation, ecological environment, and tourism aesthetics, the paper explores its relevant effects on urban development. Moreover, it focuses on the impact of water environment on regional location of urban formation and development, function, layout evolution, spatial format, economic development.
