By analyzing the etymology of the word "love", the paper points out the differences between Natsume Soseki and Haruki Murakami in their description of love story: the former was still in the process of exploring the modern conception of "love", while the latter focused on the sense of nothingness about " love" in highly developed capitalist period. However, the fundamental similarity between them is that they can't treat the sexuality of males and females equally, which reflects the same "misogynistic" tendency in the works of the two authors.
