With the rise of feminism in the 20th century,many western critics have looked at Joyce from a feminist perspective.Their discussion is largely focused on the topics such as″Is Joyce a misogynist or sympathizer with women ?″and ″Are Joyce's female characters representation of stereotypical male chauvinism ?″Because they have approached from different angles and combined different theories in their studies,their views are actually not identical.As a result,their research work has uncovered new dimensions of Joyce.
