Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of the stage-based intervention mode for patients with hypertension to promote physical activity. Method 190 patients were selected and randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group (n = 56) received the stage-based intervention, while the control group (n = 63) received the conventional intervention. Physical activity status, Body mass index and blood pressure were evaluated and compared between two groups. Result This study revealed that the experimental group improved more than control group in the stages of physical activity (P〈0.01). The frequency and duration of physical activity in the experimental group was higher than that control of control group (P〈0.01). The Blood pressure in the experimental group was lower than that of control group(P〈0.05). Conelnsion The stage-based intervention is effective for patients with hypertension to promote physical activity.
