Dr. QIAN Yi-jian, the noted cardiologist and geriatrician in China died of liver cancer at the Beijing Hospital on July 6, 2011, where he had served for 52 years. He was 86. We grieved at his death not only for his life-long service to patients but also for his deep involvement in editing and publication of medical journals of the Chinese Medical Association （CMA）.
