Margaret Drabble manages to enrich her novels by intertextuality,with great numbers of mythological and other allusions,and The Seven Sisters is extremely rich in intertextuality.The novelist here tries to construct the narrative framework by adopting mythological elements,and develop her writing of female experience in the well-arranged intertextual background.Thus 'dreamlike'is presented as the novel's theme,owing to the fictional myth and its rich imagination.The great achievements of the mythic characters serve as bitter irony to the predicament of the female characters,and the novel becomes an apparent parody.
