摘要
美国学者梅维恒是当代著名的中国文学研究家和中国古典文学翻译家。其英译《庄子》开启了当代《庄子》英译的繁荣时期，带动了美国《庄子》研究的热潮。梅维恒热爱《庄子》，尤其看重《庄子》的文学价值，对庄子其人其书有深入研究。本文从梅维恒的学术背景及其对《庄子》的理解入手，通过分析梅维恒译文对人名寓意、韵文及几种典型修辞方法的处理，考察其译文对《庄子》文学色彩的传递。
Professor Victor H.Mair is a famous American scholar on the study of Chinese literature and a renowned translator of classical Chinese works.His translation of Zhuang Zi brings the career of the translation of Zhuang Zi into a spring time and inspires the passion on the study of Zhuang Zi in America.Mair favors Zhuang Zi,especially the literary attraction of this wonderful book.He has done a profound study on Zhuang Zi and Zhuang Zi the book,and his translation puts the transfer of the literary characteristics on the first place.This paper introduces Mair's academic background,analyzes his understanding of Zhuang Zi and his methods of rendering names,verse and rhetoric devices in Zhuang Zi and attempts to criticize his translation achievement in the aspect of transferring the literary characteristics of Zhuang Zi.
