中唐时代,正是唐王朝由盛而衰的转折期。韩愈的山水诗,正是受到这个动乱时代氛围的影响,在个人不幸的政治遭遇以及独特个性的影响下,渐渐背离了山水诗清新自然、恬淡隐逸的主流传统,开始走上了一条在意境上追求雄奇险怪的诗歌创作之路,并终成为对传统山水诗的一大变革,形成别具一格的艺术魅力。
