This paper summarizes the types and the forming mechanism of hammer finish, and a type of alkyd resin is prepared using PTA leftovers as di-carboxylic acid. The resin can be used not only for the preparation of the self-drying hammer finish, but also for the preparation of polyurethane and amino baking hammer finish. It discusses the influence of the purity of PTA leftovers on the film appearance and the influence of the purity of PTA leftovers, the resin molecular weight distribution and the viscosity of the resin on the hammer effect.
