Power and Translation of Address Form—A Comparative Study of the Translation of Address Form in Teahouse

称谓语是社会交际中用来相互称呼的表达方式,交际活动参加者的地位、身份等权势关系通常蕴含其中。这使得语义上等值的称谓语翻译更难实现。《茶馆》中人物角色较多,且人与人之间的权势关系多变,选择英若诚译本和霍华译本中称谓语的翻译进行比较分析,以考察译文是否考虑权势关系因素。

Address from is an expression employed to call each other in the social interaction,reflecting the participants＇ status,role and other factors of power,which makes it difficult to achieve semantic equivalent in the translation.There are a lot of characters involved in Teahouse,and the power relation is not stable.In this paper,the English versions of Teahouse translated by Ying Ruo-cheng and John Howard-Gibbon respectively are chosen for the comparative analysis to determine whether the power factor is taken into consideration in the translation.
