Chinese Meeting God: the Relationship Between God and Man When Jesuits Reached China at the Turn of Ming Dynasty

明末清初天主教入华传教是一个值得挖掘的课题,文章主要聚焦于耶稣会士向中国人传播的天主与人的关系层面,通过详细分析当时传播和接受双方的著述,从耶稣会士在传播过程中如何坚持正统教义、如何适应中国人的原有视域出发,落脚于中国的奉教、友教和反教人士如何对这一天主教的核心问题,在此基础上揭示当时这场中西宗教交流的关键障碍所在。

In late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, Jesuits made their way to Macan and started their efforts to introduce ＂God＂ to this rich and mysterious country. Their efforts and failure attracted much attention from many scholars. Focusing on the relationship between ＂God＂ and man, the author goes through the interactive history between missionaries and Chinese. From all kinds of reactions of Chinese people and Roman Catholic Church toward the mission activities recorded in historical books and found by the author, the readers can naturally see how the conflicts between the two cultures occurred and why such conflicts caused the failure of this mission. On the basis of the analysis, the paper discusses the deep cultural reasons why China has not and will not become a part of the Christian world.
