《断魂枪》是老舍短篇小说巨制。通过这篇小说,老舍阐发了个人对民间武侠文化继而传统文化的态度是希望而不是悲观;民间武侠文化应该追求的品格是神勇而不是血勇;民间武侠文化追求的最高境界是节侠而非义侠。

Duan Hun Qiang （1935） is one of the best short stories by Laoshe （1899 -1966）, through which the writer expresses his optimism rather than pessimism over the chivalry culture and even the overall traditional culture of China. The essence of the chivalry culture, according to Laoshe, lies in the pursuit of the spiritual courage instead of the bloody valor, and of the sober-minded errantry instead of the ceremonial knighthood.
