The Word-Order Rearrangement in English-Chinese Translation

翻译,既有其人文艺术学科的特质,也有其作为语言交流手段的属性。研究表明,在常用的英汉翻译中,两种语言存在诸多对应成分,而其间的顺序存在较大差异,因而翻译中的许多工作就是相关的语序调整。在这些语序调整中,"就近原则"是一条具有相当普遍性的原则。

Translation, as human arts as well as a means of daily communication, justifies the study of its efficiency and innate know-how. Study shows that quite a lot of corresponding elements, which may or may not be in different word-orders, exist across English and Chinese while the two languages are being translated. Thus much of the translation work is the word-order rearrangement. In the word-order rearrangement, the principle of ＂near-by first＂ is found and should be observed.
