摘要
萧伯纳是现实主义戏剧家,其作品大多批判了资本主义社会的黑暗,但是在喜剧《卖花女》中,萧伯纳却表现出对资本主义社会的妥协。这种妥协主要体现在剧中情节的突转上。萧伯纳认识到社会的黑暗,但是他没有办法实现其主人公通过自己的努力改变命运的愿望,只能借助一些不现实并略带荒谬的戏剧突转实现其命运突变。这种借助不现实的外力改变主人公命运的方式从侧面反映了作者对资本主义社会现实的妥协,而这种妥协正是萧伯纳费边主义政治主张在文学上的体现。
George Bernard Shaw is a realistic playwright.Most of his works have criticized the darkness of the bourgeois society.However,the comedy Pygmalion reveals his compromise to the bourgeois society.This is mainly reflected in the dramatic reversals in the play.Though Bernard Shaw realizes the darkness of the society,he cannot help the protagonists change their fortune by themselves but through impractical and absurd dramatic reversals.That Shaw changes the protagonists' fate with external aids reflects his compromise to the bourgeois society.And this compromise is the very embodiment of his Fabianism in literature.
