A Cognitive Psychological Study on Translators’Word Selection and Decision Process

摘要本研究取翻译过程的认知心理研究视角,将TAPs定性研究与量化问卷的定量研究相结合,探讨了六名被试在以分句为单位的英译汉过程中对三个对象词进行目的译词选择时,影响其决策的各种因素及影响程度。研究结果在一定程度上为更清晰地认识译者进行单字翻译的过程因素提供了有益的实证研究资料,并提出了进一步研究的思路。 Adopting think-aloud protocols combined with a structured questionnaire, this empirical study explores six subjects＇ mentality in determining their ideal Chinese equivalents of three English words presented in sentences. Despite its limits, the study and its results bear some significance in leading to a better understanding of the factors that affect word translation process by providing pertinent statistical support as well as a so-far-litde-applied method for translation process studies.
