《一种想象的生活》描述了古罗马诗人奥维德在流亡中对新文化身份的成功建构，在澳大利亚小说家戴维·马洛夫（David Malouf）文学生涯中具有分水岭意义。本文从“被流放到语言边界之外的诗人”、“我正在进入自我的领域”、“如何真实地生活”三个层面解析这部作品中的流亡感，指出，奥维德的流亡是三方面的：他经历了语言的流亡、精神的流亡和文化身份的流亡。同时也指出，小说所描述的奥维德摆脱流亡感，重建文化身份建构的经历，实际上也是澳大利亚经历。小说借奥维德的成功表明，走出流亡的途径或许是赋予本地经验以真实感。

An Imaginary Life is a watershed work in David Maloufs literary career,depicting the construction of cultural identity of the Roman poet Ovid. This article analyzes Ovid＇s exile in three sections： the poet exiled to the outskirts of linguistic boundary, entrance into the dimensions of oneself and the way to live authentically,and points out that Ovid experienced exile in three dimensions ： linguistic, psychological, and cultural. The article also notes that Ovid＇s experience of being in exile and construtting a new cultural identity is also the Australian experience. The novel indicates ,through Ovid＇s success ,that giving local experience authenticity is probably a way out of exile.
