论商务英语信函中元话语对语境的构建功能

Metadiscourse's Function of Constructing Context in Business Letter

运用Hyland和Tse对元话语的分类方法,对商务英语信函中元话语的语境构建功能进行阐述。通过列举商务英语信函中大量引导式元话语与互动式元话语的使用,着重分析了元话语在构建语言语境及情境语境中的作用,并相应地阐释了其在构建文化语境方面的体现,进而说明元话语对于表达写信人话语意图,推动商务交际顺利进行起到了十分重要的作用。

This paper employs Hyland and Tse＇s classification methods of metadiscourse to illustrate the metadiscourse＇s function of constructing context in business letter.By listing a large number of cases involving the use of interactive metadiscourse and interactional metadiscourse in business letter,this paper mainly analyzes metadiscourse＇s function of constructing linguistic context and situational context and accordingly explains its role in constructing cultural context so as to prove that metadiscourse plays a very important role in expressing the letter writer＇s linguistic intention and promoting business communication.
