Torri, a door - shaped building in front of the Jinnjya, can be seen everywhere in Japan. By examining its architectural features, symbols, functions and origins, this paper concludes that Torri is not only a part of the Jinnjya, but also a symbol of Jinnjya, Shinto, and even Japan itself. The Torri belief carries Japanese heartful wishes.
