康熙喜爱西画,他鼓励西画创作并引进西洋画师。康熙喜爱西画透视法的空间感和肖像画的逼真感,并尝试把他认可的中外画法糅合在一起,满足他的中西复合审美要求。康熙促进了西画及其技法在宫廷画院中的传播,在西画东渐中作出了独特贡献。

Emperor Kangxi loved western painting and he encouraged the creahon ot western painting and introduced western painters. He appreciated the sense of space presented by the law of perspective and the sense of reality of portrait painting. Court painters creatively combined these two western painting methods with traditional Chinese painting to meet his Western-Chinese aesthetic standards. He improved the transmission of western painting skills in the court and made special contribution to the gradual entry of western fine art.
