0引言
全断面隧道掘进机（Full—face Tunnel Boring Machine）简称TBM。1851年，美国工程师Charles Wilson设计了世界上第一台可连续掘进的隧道掘进机，但由于设计上存在难以克服的滚刀问题，无法与当时刚诞生的钻爆法相媲美，致使其无用武之地。
In 1851, an American engineer called Charles Wilson designed the first tunnel boring machine in the world. But the design fault of hob made it unable to compete with the drilling and blasting method of the time. As of 1956, James Robbins imitated the design of Charles Willson and make it succeed.
