Objective To explore the correlation between coping style and mental health of the convoy troops and its influencing factors. Methods Applying random cluster sampling, 325 convoying troops were investigated with Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ) and Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90). Statistical analysis was conducted by using t- test, correlation analysis and multiple stepwise regression analysis. Results Significant differences in coping style of convoying soldiers were found in different official ranks, marital status, convoying experiences (P 〈 0.05). In regard to different ranks, score of passive coping stile in soldiers was significantly lower than that in officers, while score of active coping style in soldiers was significantly higher than that in officers ( P 〈 0.05 ). Score of passive coping style in troops without convoying experiences was significantly higher than that in troops having convoying experiences, while score of active coping style in troops without convoying experiences was significantly lower than that in troops having convoying experiences (P 〈 0.05 ). Score of passive coping style in married troops was significantly lower than that in unmarried troops, while score of active coping style in married troops was significantly higher than that in unmarried troops (P 〈 0.05 ). Scores of PC and NC of the warship soldiers showed significant correlation with score of SCL - 90 and its factor scores. Multiple stepwise regression analysis found that the service years and duty were the main influencing factors on the coping style of convoying troops. Conclusion Coping style impact the mental health of convoying troops. The service years and the military rank are main influencing factors of the coping style.
