Lonesome Traveler is an autobiographical fiction in which Kerouac encompasses his personal experiences and cultural memories.Kerouac depicts successfully a multicultural context by means of a literary genre that combines his journals and personal experiences for the purpose of illuminating explicitly the reason why the writers of The Beat generation pursue an alternative culture and clarifying the misunderstanding over his identity as a symbol of counterculture writers.This paper,by analyzing the multicultural elements in the text as well as Kerouac＇s cultural stance,explores in details his cultural memories as revealed in the text.The study contends that Kerouac construes himself as a traditional literary follower rather than a representative of the countercultural movement by creating the work into an autobiography as fiction.
