《雨中的猫》是海明威最优秀的短篇小说之一,其八分之七的深刻主题隐藏于八分之一的简练语言之下。本文试图通过概念整合理论的组合、完善及拓展三种操作过程,形成由多个整合空间组合的网络,凭借概念整合网络层层剖析《雨中的猫》的故事背景、叙事结构及主题,解读《雨中的猫》的篇章意义构建过程,揭示海明威八分之七的深刻主题,从而验证概念整合理论对短篇小说的强大解释力,显示其独特的视角。
As one of the best short novels,Cat in the Rain reveals its profound theme through concise story telling.By exploring Conceptual Integration Theory in this novel,this article tries to analyze the profound theme of a multiple blend network involving background blending,structure blending and theme blending through composition,completion and elaboration,to prove the plausibility of CIT in short novels.
