本体范畴是关于"是"的范畴,回答"是什么"的问题,作为认识的基石,厘清本体范畴的基本类型抑或基本内容至关重要。本体范畴虽然具有高度抽象性,但通过类型化的认知方法可以探知其基本形态。通过本体论确定本体范畴的基本内涵,范畴论确定本体范畴的基本范围。基于此,本体范畴的类型主要包括"是什么"、"存在"和"本质"三个方面。
