The Grammar- Translation Teaching Method has a long history. Today it is still widely used, showing great vitality. This is partly due to the striking advantages of the method itself. In addition, first language transfer studies in different periods provide theoretical support to the popularity of the method as well. All these researches prove the objective existence of the first language transfer in second language acquisition. It is sensible, in the process of teaching the target language, to apply the Grammar - Translation teaching method, use the first language properly and compare the differences and similarities between the target language and the first language, since these can help students grasp the tar- get language more clearly and deeply with less efforts.
