摘要
胡适早年的英语诗歌翻译,经历了由使用文言古诗体式到白话“新诗体”的转变过程。导致这种不同选择的关键性因素,不是英文原作,而是译者在翻译时持有怎样一种源自于本国文化语境的文学观念。用“新诗体”来翻译英语白话诗,当中起着更重要作用的,是胡适本人的文学观念的革命性变化。在胡适的翻译中,文本不仅通过新的方式、带着新的能量在跨文化的新语境中获得了新的生命,而且由于译者的有意识运作,译作被视为原作,甚至是“新诗”成立的“纪元”。
Hu Shi's translation of poetry from English changed from classical Chinese and ancient poetic forms to spoken Chinese and new poetic forms, which was caused not by original English writing, but by translator's concept of literature deeply rooted in his own cultural context. Putting English poetry into spoken Chinese and new poetic forms is a result of Hu Shi's dramatic change of literary concept. In Hu Shi's translation, texts were given a new birth with new energy in trans-cultural context and the translation was even taken as original writing, which led tn n n~, ~ ~.o~, :~ r^t.:_~
