Chinese knots help reveal the development of Chinese culture. Although knotting dates ba_ck millions of years, to the Paleolithic era, the Chinese knot is a decorative handicraft that evolvedinto a form of Chinese folkart during the Tang （618-907） and Song （960-1279） dynasties.
中国结是中华古老文明中的一个侧面。由旧石器时代的缝衣打结而始，中国结到唐宋发展成一门装饰手艺，延续至明清朝成为流传于民间的艺术。现在中国结多用做室内装饰、亲友间的馈赠礼物及个人的随身饰物。中国结外观对称精致，符合中国传统装饰的习俗和审美观念。
