As an ambitious writer, Bi Shumin has always been trying to turn fresh experience of life into literary cameos. Her literary writings have opened up a new prospect, and posed new propositions as well. The present paper is to unfold itself from the following four aspects： first, the writer＇ s temperament, that is, the choice of an ＂angel in white probe＂ or a ＂talented ward mate＂ ; secondly, the way to face diseases, namely, the contradiction between treatment and metaphor; thirdly, contemplation of one ＇ s own soul ： that is, the fuzzy standpoint in unveiling afflictions and in exhibiting privacies; and fourthly, the ethical dilemma： the entanglement among medicine, sociology and literature. While offering a profound probe into, and an analysis on, Bi Shumin＇ s fiction-writing, the paper tries to indicate where lie the difficulties for contemporary Chinese literature to aspire after a higher spiritual realm.
