The Mystery of the Daughter of Wang Xifeng——A Comparison of Zhipi and ChengGao Versions

《红楼梦》的版本研究中人们一直关于脂批本与程高本孰优孰劣争论不已,就脂批本而言,也不能遽然得出结论就是曹公的原创,因为在"脂砚斋"们的批点过程中有过修改加工,在传抄的过程中,也有一些错讹。程伟元、高鹗在出版印刷过程中对曹雪芹原著进行了修改,所以程高本也并非一无是处。以王熙凤女儿之谜为例,就可以说明这一点。通过比较分析,脂批本并非完美无瑕,而程高本则也不是没有可取之处。这要求研究者要依据文本,进行实事求是的探究。

There are always heated debates on Zhipi and ChengGao versions of A Dream in Red Mansions,in which people hold different views about which version is better over the other. As far as Zhipi version is concerned, it is unwise to conclude that Zhipi version is the original version by Cao Xueqin due to those notes and comments in red added to the prototype with misunderstandings and misleadings. ChengGao version was not a complete failure when Cheng Weiyuan and Gao E made some revisons in the book publication. The example of the daughter of Wang Xifeng, based on the compariosn of the two versions, shows that Zhipi version is no more perfect than ChengGao version is unacceptable.This requires the reseaehers＇s honesty and sincerity in the orobation based on the scriots.
