王新军是近年来崛起的一位很有特色的西部作家,为甘肃小说"八骏"之一。特别是在中篇小说创作方面,成绩颇丰,突出显示了他对这一文体日趋成熟的驾驭能力和扎实的写作功力。本文就作者1997-2004年间发表的反映现实民生的《桥湾》、《文化专干》、《民教小香》、《一头花奶牛》、《放映员老陈》、《远去的麦香》等六个以市场经济下社会变革为背景的中篇小说,来谈谈他这一时期的创作特色和取得的成绩。

Wang Xinjun,listed as one of the＂Eight Steeds＂among the novelists in Gansu Province,is a new well-known writer of unique style in West China.He has made a lot of achievements,especially in creation of novelettes,which embody his increasingly mature capacity in this style and his solid writing ability.In this paper,the author discusses Wang＇s literary style and achievements,including six works published from 1997 to 2004,i.e.,Bay Bridge,Education Secretary,Temporary Teacher Xiao Xiang,A Black and White Cow,Projectionist Lao Chen,and Disappearing Breath of the Wheat,etc,which reflect the actual life of local residents in the context of market economy.
