"The Root" of Metropolis and the Individual "Existence"——On the Writing Characteristics In Xi Xi's Novels

从殖民身份到实现现代化、工业化,再到回归新时期,西西经历了香港几个阶段的变迁,并在她的多数作品中隐约呈现。纵观她的作品,以其根植于东方而又博纳西方的文化价值观,华洋杂处的特征,勾勒出一幅中西文学冲突与融合并存的画卷。现代化的都市,中西融合的城市文化,善良的香港人,西西在她的多数作品中表现出浓郁的本土意识。

Xi Xi experienced several stages of the change in Hongkong from its colonial status to its medernizafion, industrialization,and then to its new period, and all this loomed in most of her works. Throughout her works, she drew the outlines of Chinese and Western literary conflicts and confluence coexist which rooted in Oriental and Western cultural values. In most of her works Xi Xi showed the rich native consciousness ： the fusion of Chinese and Western culture in the modem city-- Hongkong,and its nice people.
