On Giddens' Structural Theory:from the Binary Opposition of Holism and Individualism to Theoretical Synthesis

方法论整体主义与方法论个体主义在社会学领域的运用过程中,造成了整体与个体、宏观与微观、结构与能动、客观与主观"二元对立"的局面,同时两种方法论路线也各自都面临着难以逾越的困境。吉登斯的结构化理论的提出,从某种程度上解决了以上问题,对两种方法论进行了调适,达到了一定程度的综合。

The methodology of holism and individualism in sociological application has made binary opposition between the whole and individual, the macroscopic and microscopic, the structure and mobility, the objective and subjective. Simultaneously the above methodology routes are challenged with huge obstacles. Giddens＇ structural theory has adjusted and solved the above problems to a certain extent and achieved certain synthesis.
