Making Contribution for Development： Essentials of Existence of Private Colleges and Universities—— A Case Study of Sbaanxi Private Higher Education

民办高校的生存之道在于以“为”求“位”。本文依据2009年第二次全国经济普查和其他数据资料，对我国民办高校（不含独立学院）的社会贡献进行初步分析。这次分析具有权威数据的支撑，量化程度更高，同时就陕西与全国其他省市民办高校发展中的优势与劣势进行对比，为陕西未来民办高等教育发展明确方向、重点突破、永葆陕西民办高校在全国的领先地位建言献策。

The essentials of existence of private colleges and universities is through making contribution for development. Based on the data of the second national economic investigation and other statistics, the paper makes first analysis of the social contributions made by private colleges and universities of the country （excluding independent colleges）. The analysis is supported by authorized statistics and is highly quantitative. At the same time, a comparative study is made on the advanteges and disadvanteges between private colleges and universities in Shaanxi and other provinces to show a clear direction and make breakthrough of development so as to keep a leading position.
