书法是一种表现型艺术,这已经是大多数研究者所认定的事情。一般说来,书法表现活动包括四个主要的环节,即生命精神、心理、行为和行为结果,这四个环节是依次递进的过程。就表现方式而言,书法表现主要是借助一定的表意语言———具有特定意味的笔墨语汇,特别是通过我们所谓的"高次语汇"来完成的,这样的语汇包括提示型、流露型、演绎型、表演型和复合型五大基本类别。
