改写理论视角下解读林译小说

On Lin Shu's Translations from the Perspective of Rewriting Theory

林纾是我国晚清时期的翻译奇才,他的作品典雅流畅,风行一时。由于他的翻译小说中存在大量省略、增添、删节,常被翻译界指责为"不忠实"。本文从翻译学文化操控派代表人物勒菲维尔的改写理论视角出发,结合林纾所处的特定时期的社会环境,分析了影响他翻译思想和策略的因素,探究了林纾在中国当时社会意识形态、诗学观等因素影响下对西方文学进行改写并取得成功的深层次原因。

Lin Shu was a wizard at translation in the late Qing Dynasty and was renowned for the elegance and fluency of his translations. However, some critics often accuse his works of infidelity owing to vast omission, addition and abridgement. Based on Lefevere＇ s rewriting theory, the paper analyzes the factors that impacted on Lin＇ s translation principles and strategies, and explores the deep-seated reasons for his successful rewriting of Westem literature under the influence of contemporary social ideology and poetics.
