The city of Nanning.has a long history. A county seat called Jinxing was established by the Eastern Jin Dynasty at the site as early as 318 AD. It was called Yong for short asthe Yong River runs through the city. It＇s inhabited by about 36 ethnic groups such as Yao and Dong, with Zhuang being the major ethnic group aside from the Han.
