As the first novel of Sir Walter Scott,Waverley is a story of political allegory.In themarriage of the English hero Waverley and a Scottish girl Rose Bradwardine,Scott＇s intention tomake a proper marriage so as to keep Scottish identity in the Union is justified to be a paradox.
