“欧苏”散文合论评议

On Unification of Prose by "Ou & Su"

"欧苏"之称,自宋至今,经历代文论家推崇,已成为散文理论史上的专用名词。南北宋之际吕本中《童蒙诗训》之《文字体式》最早正式将"欧苏"并提。"欧苏"文代表成熟柔美的宋文,是平易自然的古文典范。"欧苏"又"和而不同",历代论者大体上有欧高苏低、苏高欧低、"欧苏"各具特色和否定"欧苏"四类意见。欧文纯正,苏文性灵,他们以其胸怀和才性,共铸宋文双璧,显示"不同"魅力,凝成"和"之力量,有力延续古文之气脉。

The term ＂Ou ＆ Su＂ has been a terminology in the study of prose theory through the ages from the Song Dynasty to the present when the critics used it in their discussion about the Ouyang Xiu and Su Shi＇s prose. The term was first used in Literal Styles of Explanations of Poems by Lv Benzhong in the period of the Northern Song Dynasty （960--1127） and the Southern Song Dynasty （1127-1279）. ＂Ou g~ Su＂ prose, as the model of ancient Chinese prose, is plain, natural and beautiful. Ou and SuS prose is harmonious but not identi- cal. All the critics in all ages have held four different views about their prose, which are superiority of Ous over Su＇s, superiority of Su＇s over Ou＇s, each with unique features or negative attitudes towards both of their prose. Ous prose is genuine while Su＇s is inspirational Both prose is the gem of the works of the Song Dynasty with different artistic charms and identical vigour.
